David Hockney Exhibition Book Cover.

An exhibition of one of the most popular and influential British artists of the twentieth century is on at Tate Britain in London.

Works spanning the sixty year career of David Hockney will be on display until 29th May 2017. To accompany the touring show, which will also visit New York and Paris, London-based design studio A Practice for Everyday Life, created a catalogue. It is a beautiful publication containing over 200 images and available in hard back and soft covers.bury st edmunds, suffolk, graphic designer, freelance

As much as I love the simple cover, I feel that something is missing. The Hockney Touch.

A few weeks ago, Hockney was asked to design a special masthead for The Sun newspaper to be used on one issue. With his trusty iPad and usual wit at hand, he created this –

Hockney, Sun, masthead

So as a tribute to Hockney’s genius and simplistic delivery, I thought that it was only fitting that the catalogue of his once-in-a-lifetime retrospective should receive the same treatment.hockney, sun, tate, exhibition, graphic designer, freelance, bury st edmunds

Ah, much better! It’s more like a Hockney now.
